Backstage at “Wicked”
I had the amazing honor of being invited to shadow the Makeup Supervisor on the National Touring Company of “Wicked” during a performance at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles.
My adventure began with being allowed through the guarded backstage door. My wonderful guide introduced me to EVERYONE. I smiled and waved like I belonged. We then went deep into the dressing area where I watched her turn the actress playing Elphaba from caucasian to green. Then the secrets of the fast hair style changes were revealed.
I saw the monkey heads, the wizard head and the hammerheads. I watched part of the show from the wings. I was wowed by the quick costume changes. And I got to see “Defying Gravity” up close and personal.
But the best part of all, was during the intermission, I got to help touch up the lead’s green makeup. A face painter’s dream!

I had the great privilege of taking a class with the extremely talented Master Face and Body Painter, Mark Reid.
I learned tons of new and wonderful techniques – especially some scarey and yucky stuff that the boys will really like.

Say No To Drugs Race LA Holiday Classic

This was such a great event. I had no idea how many runners of all ages run this race. We arrived well before sunrise and started to paint faces. Painted non-stop until after all the races and all the prizes were over. Kudos to all the organizers and sponsors of this wonderful and purposeful event.

Comikaze 2011 was a blast
Went to Comikaze 2011 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Dressed as my own character… The FaceMaker. Got tons of pictures taken of me and met some really cool people. Randomly painted people in the crowd. Met the Winner Twins who are the authors of two (soon to be three) award winning sci-fi books and they are only 16 years old. Also got to meet Krag the Barbarian from Walking In Circles. He let me use his huge hammer and I let him use my paint brush. Oh what fun I had!

Spooktacular was spectacular
Had a great time painting at Montrose Spooktacular on Halloween night. Thousands of people came out to trick or treat on Honolulu Avenue.
